Competence oriented open learning for disadvantaged learners

SDG Advocate

SDG Advocate project takes up the challenge of encouraging global citizens to advocate for specific issues within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The approach is to encourage participants to become active global citizens through non-formal experiential approaches, using the pillars of Global Citizenship Education to address local issues within the framework of the SDGs through so-called “Action Projects”.

  5. Unique Selling Point

    • This project takes a holistic approach to introduce all 17 SDGs to learners over a period of time. Focusing on one goal each month. The slide-deck links to a range of materials including images, videos, alarming facts, infographics, meditations, evidence-based articles, and suggested actions. The aim is to engage all learners with a variety of content that can be easily assimilated into existing learning outcomes or stand alone as a quick energizer or monthly topic.

  6. Impact
    • Hopefully the monthly updates encourage and engage tutors to engage with the content and include it in their teaching and learning. So far, I have not gathered any data on this but I hope to as more people have access to the materials.

  7. Feasibility/Transferability
    • The materials are available to any tutor who may wish to use them.
