Youth World Music Orchestra
The Youth World Music Orchestra, founded in 2016, is a special project of mediating and artistic work. It is an ensemble that explores music from cultures around the world.
The Youth World Music Orchestra is an integral part of the Centre for Intercultural Music. The members of this ensemble are young and already well-trained musicians between the ages of 15 and 25. The repertoire so far includes music from Africa, Indonesia, India, Turkey, France, Sweden, Russia, works of European classical music, pieces from the fields of rock/pop/jazz, new music and much more.

The Centre for intercultural music /youth-world-music-orchestra/ is located in the city of Kassel. It arranges and performs “music of the cultures – mainly in the region of Hesse but increasingly also on national level and also internationally.
Ulli Götte, the founder, composer and director of the centre is a Professor for Musicology and started his pathway from classical and Jazz music before he discovered his love and admiration for Minimal Music (Steve Reich) and its origins in African and Asian Music.
The youth-world-music-orchestra consists of 20-30 young artists who live and study Music in Kassel. The orchestra has been performing 3-5 concerts per year.
Ulli Götte’s work and the centre for intercultural music is closely connected to Minimal Music which – like any other music offers great opportunities for integration and the connection of also rather untrained people (especially youth and children) not only to play, but also to compose music.
In this connection Ulli and his team of approximately 5 musicians is regularly working with schools, universities, conservatories and is driving force of the Network of European Minimal Music Organisations (NEMO).
